My discussion on mold can be a long one but I am going to keep this segment short while I prepare my overall thoughts on health and mold. All I can say is that there has been more awareness and accredited studies on the topic. I will source a few below.

The "Where is the Mold" segment is for places of concern I have found in my home with mold. To some I may be naive, and to some this will be helpful. I hope this finds most helpful and eager to look in other places.

On a beautiful saturday, You'll find me cleaning the bathroom, we use this one a daily basis. I clean it once a week unless more attention is needed. I focus on the tub first. I usually clean the bath mat first, I use a scrub mommy, dish soap, lemon, and vinegar. I scrub both sides of the bath mat and then start rinsing it off with shower wand.

Now, I'm going to explain this the best way I can... usually I notice little pieces of mold film coming from the mat.. nothing major... BUT this time so MANY pieces of mold were getting washed away... I could not fathom where it was coming from. It was disturbing and disgusting to say the least.

I looked closer and noticed there was mold underneath EACH suction cup. I thought I was scrubbing the mat correctly but I was proven wrong by times worst killer, Mold.

I was mortified. I ended up tossing the mat.

From now on I will be:

  • Tub-soaking my bath mat in vinegar, baking soda, water, and dish soap before vigourously and carefully scrubbing any dirt and scum

  • Turn the bath mat around after my kids baths every time so it can dry more effectively

  • Only buying transparent and light colored bath mats

Studies in mold and health I find interesting:
